// ABOUT THIS PROJECT //
Boy Latex have created a new original score to Yoshiaki Kawajiri's 1993 animated feature 'Ninja Scroll'. The re-scoring attempts to provide new context to the film's excessive sex and violence, highlighting and emphasising these aspects with sound to explore fetishized violence and gender identities within the film. It is both a critique on the themes commonly present in anime as well as a celebration of its excess and spectacle.
The sound has been edited with the film to be dynamic, with the scenes informing the tone and texture of the sound as well as the pacing of them. Sometimes a killing blow is not just a killing blow, sometimes it is a guitar solo. Vol. 1 covers the first 20 minutes of Ninja Scroll.
